Teenager messaging boy she met on bus believes she's in a situationship

A 13-year-old girl who has exchanged messages with a boy on Instagram has decided to attach the label situationship to their conversation.

Grace Wood-Morris used the term coined by adult daters with jobs and bank accounts to refer to the messages and emojis she and Oliver O’Connor, a pupil at a different school who she met on the bus, have sent each other over Instagram.

Grace said: “He likes my photos and asks me what I’m up to, but that’s where it ends. Teenage awkwardness or a pathological lack of commitment leaving me in dating limbo?”

“I just don’t need these unhealthy patterns in my life after all I’ve been through this year, like Kayden laughing at my New Look top on mufti day and James promising he’d be my partner in biology then swapping at the last minute.

“I’m a proud, independent woman who doesn’t have time to be dealing with ghosting, breadcrumbing or benching. Not when I’ve got geography homework.

“Maybe it’s just that we’ve got different attachment styles, but he’s not responding to my lovebombing. I’ve told him we need to DTR or we’ll never announce we’re exclusive.”

Oliver said: “I was playing football with my mates. Dan threw his trainer up a tree.”
