We ask you: was £72 million for the King’s coronation value for money?

THE coronation of King Charles III, a marvellous occasion that was on the television for a whole day, cost taxpayers £72,000,000. Worth it?

Norman Steele, scaffolder: “Yeah, but that has to be balanced against what foreign sales and the DVD release will bring in.”

Jack Browne, sous-chef: “Did the King enjoy it? That’s all that counts for me.”

Hannah Tomlinson, AI trainer: “£22 million of that was on the CGI Harry. Did you realise? No. Therefore it was a success.”

Margaret Gerving, retired: “It was the first coronation in 70 years, give them a break! I’m sure we’ll get costs down for the next one which will be in relatively short order.”

Roy Hobbs, patio cleaner: “I have a simple rule of thumb. Did it happen under a Labour government? It’s an outrageous money-wasting scandal and heads must roll. Did it happen under a Tory government? Then it’s fine.”
