A MAN is secretly hoping that a tearful, consoling hug with a female friends develops into something more.
Ryan Whittaker was giving his friend Eleanor Shaw a comforting hug to express sympathy for her bad news when he began to mentally prepare to make out, if things should go in that direction.
He said: “She was upset about her job or something to do with her dog. Or maybe both. I couldn’t tell, I wasn’t really listening.
“All my focus was on the proximity of our bodies and our arms being around each other. Of course I’m concerned for her well-being on an abstract level, but physically I’m right here and ready to go, right now.
“I reckon if we drag this out for a few more minutes of murmured reassurance I could be in there. As a supportive friend, you understand. A supportive friend who has seen the inevitability of our love for years.
“Maybe she wants me too? After all, she initiated the hug. Is this the oldest trick in the women’s book of getting laid? Only time will tell.”
Eleanor said: “I only chose to hug Tom because I consider him a thoroughly sexless entity. It’s like being comforted by a tree that sweats.”
